Reducing the amount and impact of packagingPackaging makes a significant contribution to amount of waste produced by everyone.
As a key player in the packaging supply chain, we have a legal and morel obligation to understand how much of each type of packaging material passes through our company and to promote packaging reduction, reuse and recycling.
Products from Salonserve are often packed in reused (second use) cartons. We would hope that you agree that reusing cartons are a good way of reducing our dependence on virgin material cartons.
It is our policy to:· Work with product suppliers to reduce the amount of packaging, including transit or ‘secondary’ packaging, to the minimum required to be fit for purpose. · Design packaging so that it can be easily recycled, i.e. use single materials where possible, or where more than one material has to be used ensure they are separable. · Wherever possible specify the use of post-consumer recycled materials in packaging. · Avoid the presence of hazardous chemical residues in packaging Identify materials used in packaging, especially plastics, to assist recycling · Encourage our clients to reuse or recycle packaging, where practicable · Ensure that any product labelling that makes environmental or social claims about a product, is verifiable.
